Day 2 - touring Cotswolds north west corner, inc. Stratford upon Avon
An 80 odd miles tour of the north west corner of the Cotswolds

- Stratford upon Avon. Birthplace of William Shakespeare, home of the Shakespeare
Theatre. You can follow the bards life here in all sorts of ways.
- Leave Stratford on the A3400, turn onto the A429 then the B4035 to Chipping
Campden - 16 miles

- Chipping Campden. Perhaps the loveliest of the Cotswolds villages. It has
managed to keep out the coaches and control the crowds
- S on B4081 to join A44 to Broadway - 7 miles

- Broadway. Probably best known these days for the Lygon Arms, but a visit
to the Broadway Tower Country Park will give wonderful views over the escarpment
- A pleasant run along the B4632 at the bottom of the Cotswolds escarpment
to Winchcombe - 7 miles

- Winchcombe. See where splendid wool church and Sudeley Castle, home of Queen
Katherine Parr (she survived Henry VIII and later remarried)
- Take minor roads past Sudeley Castle, through Guitting Power, Naunton and
Lower Swell to Stow - 9 miles

- Stow-on-the-Wold
- Stow on the Wold. A real Cotswolds cross roads, it is difficult to avoid
Stow. However you would not want to avoid it, it has a pleasant town square
and lots of antique shops
- S from Stow on the A429, you will see the Slaughters marked to your right
after a few miles - 3 miles

- Lower Slaughter and Upper Slaughter are close to each other. Lower is more
crowded as a stream run s through the village, adding to the picturesqueness
- its only 1 mile to Bourton on the Water

- Bourton on the Water. Perhaps too many people visit Bourton, but there is
plenty of entertainment for the visitors with masses of attractions
- Take minor roads through the Rissingtons, Great Barrington and Taynton to
Burford - 8 miles

- Burford. The main street is on a steep hill and has bags of character, antique
shops and tea rooms
- Follow A424 north to Stow on the Wold - 10 miles

- Then N on A429 to Moreton in Marsh - 4 miles
