Winchcombe is another of those Cotswold towns whose wealth was founded on wool. Hence a wool church - in other words a much larger parish church than you would expect to find in a town of this size
The Chandos and Sudeley almshouses are interesting building, showing that philanthropy did exist in the past
And just a short walk from the town is Sudeley Castle. Once the home of Catherine Power (one of Henry VIII's six queens) now the home of Lord Ashcombe. Sudeley Castle is open to the public, and there are some good walks along public footpaths that you can enjoy through the grounds
