Bourton-on-the-water has a wide main street, with the little River Windrush tumbling along it. The combination of river and the grass around it, make it an idyllic spot on a summers day.
There are a lot, perhaps too many, attractions here. Motor museum, exotic butterflies, a trout farm, a perfume manufacturer, a model village and many others.
It has become a honeypot village, and can suffer from coach trips during the summer
There are a number of nice walks. Try walking to Lower Slaughter from Bourton, it is not far, and it gets you away from the crowds
